Additional Information: These bottles were acquired from a lady who lived in Lambeth Palace. The residence of the senior prelate of the Church of England. The pictures were taken at the palace.
At the time of these decanters it was the fashion was for chilled red and white wine. These decanters would be placed in silver or leadlined wood or even ceramic bowls of ice and the bottle shape ensured even cooling.
